Events
There will be live watch party events and discussion around the topic of domestic violence on Friday October 20, 2023 & Saturday November 4, 2023. The events run 7 a.m. to 12 Noon EDT & 7 p.m. to 12 Midnight EDT on each of those days. Filmmakers may be in attendance at any of these events.

Films
There are eight films containing content representing domestic violence and associated issues that has been curated especially for you! While not all of the films will have LGBTQ+ representation, they each bring valuable insights, perspectives, and information relevant to raising awareness around this topic. The films will be available to watch online from Oct 20, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023.

GBFFDVA2023 Curators
Hamish Downie
Hamish Downie is an Australian writer/producer and music video director based in Japan. Notable work includes the music videos for Robyn Loau’s single “Never Let You Down”, and “Everybody’s gotta learn sometime”. In 2012, he produced the short film, “Prism”, based on the many-worlds theory, which was one of the finalists in the 2012 Quantum Shorts Competition in Singapore. “An American Piano”, which he wrote and produced was officially selected to screen at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) Kids 2015, the BAFTA-qualifying festival Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, Sapporo Short Fest, Festival de Cannes (out of competition), and was invited to play at the Regal Cinema (Australia) in front of Hayao Miyazaki’s swan song “The Wind Rises” to commemorate the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima.
Jennifer Trujillo (she/they)
As a Queer human, Jennifer has been a long time audience member and supporter of film festivals and the Queer/LGBTQ+ Community. Jennifer has a background in Networking, Sales, Marketing, Customer Satisfaction, Team Leadership, Team Management, Field & Wildlife Biology, Medical and Scientific Research, Healthcare, and Advocacy from almost every level. Jennifer enjoys Bicycling, Knitting, Crocheting, Drawing, Painting, Spending Time in Nature, Writing, Reading, Podcasts, and Ingesting, Analyzing and Discussing Film and all kinds of Media- with a strong passion for the Queer/LGBTQ+! Jennifer believes in being the change we wish to see in the world and understands how much representation matters and even more so, how much positive representation and positive, connected community matters. To that end, Jennifer has dedicated herself to growing Gilbert Baker Film Festival-GBFF. Gilbert Baker’s view of our humanity is represented through each color of the flag. His interpretation has been celebrated and recognized as ‘elements of all of us’. In his own words; ‘…it needed to have depth and so I like the idea that each color would represent a kind of element of art… Whether it was pink for sex or red for life … and all the way down the spectrum…’ Sexuality, Life, Healing, Sunlight, Nature, Magic, Art, Harmony and Human Spirit – these are the elements of our Rainbow Pride Flag, of our world, and of us.
